There are just a few candles flickering in Urquhart's room; the rest is darkened and quiet.

He comes in backwards, pulling Saffron with him, and kicks the door shut in a hurry.

He can't think of anything to say that wouldn't sound trite and entirely wrong; so he just lets his finger trail up and down her body and says nothing.

She falls silent, too, and even though her body is still recovering her mind is jumping ahead to think, to dwell, as she rests in his lap a little longer.
